Your Questions About Postcard Marketing

Sharon asks…
postcard marketing?
Hello everyone! I need help! I’m opening an online handbag business and want to use post cards as a marketing tool. Can you give me suggestions as to what slogans or wording that can be used to advertise my business? I don’t want it to be for a grand opening theme, but words I can use over and over again to let people know about my business! Thanks

A good slogan could be something like,, Its in the bag
You can also save a little money by getting a bulk mail permit from the USPS, it will save you a few pennies per card.
And for high quality cards look at www.GalleriaVentures.com. They will create a design your cards from what ever instructions you give, and they do not charge for their design work. It allows you to focus on your business and lets them worry about creating a card design you like.

Susan asks…
Does postcard marketing work?
Any tips on what to do and what not to do to get a better reponse? Any good websites for more information? Thank you.

I’ve done enough card campaigns to know that it depends on your target population. If your list is captive, that is, they know who you are already, you’ll get a much better response than you would with a blind mailing. Of course, your offer has to be unique, engaging, and professional.

Direct Mail Marketing
While there are millions who prefer online marketing campaigns and methods, there are still individuals who prefer direct mail marketing campaigns even better. Some might think that a direct mail marketing campaign is an easy thing to do, but it is not. It takes a lot of time, energy and mostly relies on refining techniques used from time to time. This can be very costly if you are a beginner and are unaware of how it?s done. However there are steps and measures one could take in order to make their direct mail marketing campaign a success. The response rate will also be higher if you execute some of the following methods.
After spending thousands of dollars on your latest direct mail marketing campaign, would you like it if a potential customer throws the mail away even without a second glance? Your answer would obviously be a big no. To avoid this from happening, you must make sure that the envelope is not cluttered. This is what determines whether that person will pick up the envelope or simply throw it away without even opening it. It is quite important that you place a significant amount of time on choosing the color of the envelope. Keeping it neutral would be the best.
Generally direct mail marketing campaigns are carried out on 4×6 or 5×7 sized envelopes. This of course can change depending on the type of direct mail marketing campaign you are carrying out.
Today many companies are focused on cutting down costs. This is why the usage of envelopes has decreased and the usage of postcards has evolved. Unlike an envelope, you need not have to open a postcard and the moment you receive it, you could read out the information without wasting time. Postcards contain short and simple messages and therefore anyone can read it quickly. To make your direct mail marketing campaign more creative, you could add a few designs onto the postcard, without of course cluttering it.
When it comes to creating, printing and posting postcards, it is shown that unlike printing a business letter and mailing it with an envelope, the postcard is much cheaper and very cost effective.
We all love to get things for free. Your direct mail marketing campaign could be a hit if you decide on using the postcards as a discount coupon or a gift voucher. This will let them come to your store to purchase a product and receive a discount for it.
Postcard Marketing Response Monitoring Crucial
Monitoring the results of your marketing postcards is certainly crucial to figuring out the measure of accomplishment of your campaign. It is a must in order to make judgements on how to improve the campaign message.
The nice thing is, it is easy. You do not need some sophisticated technology.
All that is needed is a plan of action. Here are some things to consider for the plan:
- Put someone in charge to be responsible for the running the whole campaign and for compiling all the information.
- Make sure all personel who deal with customers know about the campaign and instruct them to keep track of all customer responses and related sales.
- All response information should be entered into the appropriate system.
- If you have a website, make sure the postcard points the customer to a specific response page which you can count all visits.
- Collect all website visits, all response telephone calls, all store visits, and all related sales. Divide all these numbers by the total number of postcards sent out to get your response rates. ( for example if you get 500 visits to your website after sending out 10,000 postcards your response rate would be 5%. )
- Have the person in charge create easy to understand reports. Have all personel involved review the reports and look for ideas for improvement.
Do not be concerned if your first batch of promotional postcards did not turn out with great response rates. Most first campaigns do not. Utilize what you learned to make it better and try again. This is essential for all types of marketing and advertising, and postcard marketing is no exception.
