Nancy asks…

Need a Direct Mail Service to Print and Send Postcards?

I’ve got a large project for the credit union that I work at and I am struggling to find a direct mail service that can print and send my postcards to the customers. Any ideas?

Postcard Mkt Mgr answers:

www.GalleriaVentures.com .

Betty asks…

What makes you respond to direct mail pieces?

We’ve all received oversized postcards in the mail advertising something. If you’ve ever responded to one of these things, what made you do it?

Postcard Mkt Mgr answers:

I ask myself whether I need “this” or just want “this.” If needed, is it durable or frivolous. If durable, is the price where it should be or not based on my funds. There are other considerations, though not high on the list (color, S&H, environmentally responsible, more). If low priced, I can make the decision alone (let’s say $100.00 or less) though will seek spousal (could be parental for others) input. In general, we don’t submit it to a committee of peers to uncover their experiences or thoughts as Direct Mail is personal mail.

Richard asks…

I am thinking about doing a direct mail for a photography business that specializes in architectural and ?

corporate photography. I plan on using a service and mailing out 5,000 6×9 postcards to just business in the boston area. I am spending about 1,400.00 for this mailing. Last year I did a smaller mailing in my local area of only 500 and a smaller card. I had little results. Can I expect better results with my new plan and what other aspects should I consider?

Postcard Mkt Mgr answers:

May I suggest you join the PPA (Professional Photographers of America)? They have a wealth of information like this to help photographers in their business. Marketing is one major area and they cover it very well. You will find information on how to make your cards more effective, so I suggest that you take less than $400 of the $1,400 and join them. You will make your money back in short order. Their site is www.ppa.com. You have to be a member to get to the members only area that contains these aids, but you can surf the other areas of the site before becoming a member. You’ll find some assistance in the other areas, but the members only area focuses and goes in depth on the issues of photography as a business.
