Effective direct mail postcard marketing for service

Postcard Marketing 1 Comment »

Here are some tips on what you should and should not write for a direct mail campaign to promote your business to improve client web sites:

  • Praise the good points on their current it before offering some suggestions for improvement.  ( No-one likes to hear that their web site is rubbish. )
  • Make an offer to provide a benefit (but don’t make it a concrete offer).
  • Quantify the benefits of your offer.
  • Don’t try and sell anything in the letter.

Once you have sent a card that meets these points, follow it up with a phone call. Again, don’t try and sell during the call. All you’re after is a meeting in which you can perform a needs analysis to find out what the prospect needs and wants. Once you have that information, you can offer a solution which makes your sale.

These simple steps can be followed for most any type of service business to develop an effective postcard marketing campaign.

Using Postcards for your Business Success

Postcard Marketing 2 Comments »

For your business success, make sure you consider photo postcards. Postcards are just a little more expensive than business cards and far less than Yellow Page ads. Postcards can be handed out like business cards, but that is not all.

Postcards can be mailed. So postcards offer you the opportunity to keep in touch with your customers and find new customers by mail. By comparison, sending a business card through the mail really has to be sent in an envelope. Envelopes cost more to mail than postcards. To come close to communicating as much as you can by postcard, you would need to accompany you business card with a letter and include a photo. Not to mention, that the recipient of a postcard is more likely to see what the postcard is about, while many envelopes are tossed unopened.

Since postcards offer the use of photos, selecting the photo you want to use should be one of your first considerations. First think about what you want your postcard to say. For example, are you introducing a new service or product. Then your selected photo should highlight the benefits you want to communicate about your new service or product. A new pizza parlor might use a photo of a customer enjoying one of their wonderful pizzas. A used car dealer shows a smiling customer driving off in their new car. This way you communicate more than just what words can do alone.

After you have selected the photo that promotes the benefits of your new service or product, you should develop some wording that compels the reader to do what you want them to do. Using the pizza parlor example again, it might be to compel a potential customer to place a pizza order. You might do this by giving a discount coupon on the back of the postcard. Think about what you want your postcard to have the customer do.

Other information to consider in creating your postcard would be the basic business information you want to make sure is on all your marketing materials. Such as: business name, address, phone number, email, web site, and any other pertinent contact information. Make sure your customer is invited to contact you and has easy ways to make contact.

So to summarize, one well designed postcard can communicate the same as mailing a business card, photo, and letter all in an envelope that costs more to mail than a postcard. Photo postcards can be an important and cost effective marketing tool for your business success.
